# AutorunBiz Setup Guide · en

Never send tokens, passwords, login codes or card numbers to anyone’s chat.

# Install Hermes Agent and get your bot replying

10 stages, about 1 hour. You finish with a bot that replies to you.

## 1. Get ChatGPT Plus

Use your own Plus account for the workshop.

Needs: Your ChatGPT account

1. Open ChatGPT and log in.
   Use the same account as your paid phone subscription. A different email will not show Plus.
   Open: https://chatgpt.com/
2. Click your account name, then Upgrade plan.
   On desktop, look at the bottom-left. Some screens say Upgrade to Plus.
3. Choose Plus and read the price before paying.
   Already on Plus? Skip payment. Your own checkout price is the one that applies.

4. Complete payment only on ChatGPT’s checkout screen.
   Card rejected? Enable online or overseas transactions in your banking app. Still rejected? Ask Sean.
5. Check that your account now shows Plus.
   You cancel it yourself in Settings → Account. The workshop fee does not include this subscription.
6. Open Settings → Security and login.
   Look under Advanced security. Your settings labels may differ slightly.
7. Turn on Enable device code authorization for Codex.
   This lets Hermes connect later. Never share its login code with anyone.

   Make your help box (2 minutes)
   Keep every setup question in this box. Your normal chats stay clean, and this box knows the guide.
   In ChatGPT’s sidebar, choose New project. Name it AutorunBiz Setup Help.
   On your phone, open the sidebar first. If Projects is absent, use ChatGPT in your laptop browser.
   Open the project’s ⋯ menu → Project instructions. Paste these instructions and save.
   Choose Add files in the project and upload the downloaded guide file.

## 2. Install Telegram

Link your phone and laptop to the same Telegram account.

Needs: Your phone; Your laptop

1. Install Telegram from your phone’s App Store or Play Store.
   Search Telegram Messenger. Check the maker: Telegram FZ-LLC. Already using Telegram? Continue to the laptop part.
   Open: https://telegram.org/apps

2. Sign in to Telegram on your phone.
   Enter login codes only in the official login screen. Never send them to a person.
3. If Telegram asks, choose your personal username.
   This @name belongs to you. It is different from the bot username you will create later.
4. Install Telegram Desktop on your laptop.
   Open it. The login screen shows a QR code.

5. On iPhone, open Telegram Settings → Devices. [phone: iphone]
   Choose Link Desktop Device or Add Device, whichever your version shows.
6. On Android, open Telegram’s menu → Settings → Devices. [phone: android]

7. Tap Add Device or Link Desktop Device on your phone.
   Your camera opens to scan the laptop’s QR code. If Devices is absent, check Privacy and Security.

## 3. Create your agent bot

BotFather creates your own bot and its token, the secret key.

Needs: Telegram

First, name your agent
This is your daily right-hand. Choose a name you enjoy calling.
Pick a film, anime, game or story character, or a name that means something to you.
Yuna is Sean’s calm mentor; Lulu runs research. Our game-character names are taken 😄 Make yours different.
Skip your own name, Assistant, AI, Hermes or your company name. Your PA deserves their own name.
Keep the username close to the agent’s name, plus your name and _bot.
Use /setname to change the display name later. The username cannot change.

1. Open Telegram’s search and find @BotFather.
   Check the exact name and blue verified tick. Fake accounts may ask for money; close those chats.

2. Tap START.
   BotFather can now reply to you.
3. Send /newbot.
   BotFather asks for the name first, then the username.

4. Send your agent’s name using Copy above.
   This is the display name. You can change it later with /setname.
5. Send the username using Copy above.
   Write it down first; it cannot change. Taken? Add a number before _bot, then try again.
6. Find BotFather’s confirmation message.
   It contains your bot link and token: a private key. Never forward it to another person or group.

7. On iPhone, long-press the message → Forward → Saved Messages. [phone: iphone]
   Choose your own Saved Messages. Keep it private.

9. On Telegram Desktop, right-click the message → Forward → Saved Messages.
   Use this route if you are already on the laptop.
10. Keep your confirmation in Saved Messages.
    Find it again through /mybots in BotFather. If the token leaked, use /revoke and open Help.

## 4. Find your Telegram user ID

This number tells Hermes who may talk to your bot.

Needs: Telegram Saved Messages

Check your three things
Bot username
Bot token
Your Telegram user ID
All three should be in your own Saved Messages, visible on the laptop.

1. Open @userinfobot.
   Check the exact username. It should not ask for payment or login codes.

2. Tap START.
   It replies with your account information. Find the line labelled Id.
3. Save the Id digits in your own Saved Messages.
   Copy every digit. The length can vary; do not add your name or @username.
4. Open Saved Messages on the laptop.
   Check your bot username, token and user ID are all there. Keep this one place open.

## 5. Install Hermes on your laptop

Install from the official Hermes website.

Needs: Laptop with charger; Saved Messages

1. Open the official Hermes download page.
   Keep Wi-Fi on and your laptop plugged in. Use only this official address.
   Open: https://hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/#downloads
2. Under Mac OS, click Download desktop app. [OS: mac-arm]

3. Open Finder → Downloads, then double-click Hermes-Setup.dmg. [OS: mac-arm]
   Two quick clicks open a window containing Hermes and an Applications shortcut.
4. Drag Hermes into Applications. [OS: mac-arm]
   Wait for copying to finish. This DMG contains Hermes.app, not an Install Hermes app.
5. Open Hermes from Applications. [OS: mac-arm]
   This opens Hermes Setup. Choose Open if macOS asks about this official download. Then follow its installation screen.

7. When HERMES IS READY appears, click Launch Hermes. [OS: mac-arm]
   Some installers open Hermes directly. Continue when the welcome or provider screen appears.

8. Under Windows, click Download desktop app. [OS: windows]

9. Open File Explorer → Downloads. [OS: windows]

10. Double-click Hermes-Setup.exe. [OS: windows]
    Double-click means two quick left clicks. A company laptop needs IT permission before installing.

11. If Windows protected your PC appears, click More info. [OS: windows]
    Check that this is your Hermes download from the official page. The next screen adds Run anyway.

12. Click Run anyway for that official Hermes file. [OS: windows]
    Do not use this route for other downloads. If antivirus quarantines Hermes, open Help.
13. In User Account Control, click Yes for the Hermes installer. [OS: windows]

## 6. Connect ChatGPT and choose Luna

Luna is the model we use for setup. Leave it selected tonight.

Needs: Your Plus account

1. In Hermes, open the model-provider choices.
   A provider supplies the model, your agent’s brain. Hermes is installed but needs this connection.

2. Choose ChatGPT or Codex Subscription.
   If absent, open Other providers. Look for the same subscription option.

3. Wait when Hermes shows Starting sign-in.
   Hermes is preparing your code, not frozen. Keep its window open.

4. Open the official device sign-in page.
   Copy the short code from Hermes into that page. Never send the code into a chat.
   Open: https://auth.openai.com/codex/device
5. Choose the account with your Plus subscription.
   Check the email before continuing. A wrong account will connect the wrong subscription.
6. Click Continue on the Codex access screen.
   Only continue on the official OpenAI sign-in page you opened.
7. When you see Signed in to Codex, return to Hermes.
   You can close that browser tab. If the code expired, choose sign-in again for a fresh code.

8. Wait for the subscription-connected confirmation.
   Hermes confirms your ChatGPT or Codex subscription is connected.

9. Open Switch model and choose GPT-5.6 Luna.
   Check that the model name contains Luna. Tonight, leave it there; the workshop covers smarter models.

10. Click BEGIN when it appears.
    Your Hermes workspace opens. Some versions open it directly.

11. Look for Gateway ready in the bottom-left corner.
    This means the gateway, your message receiver, is running. If it differs, open Help.

## 7. Connect Telegram

Your bot token connects the bot. Your user ID controls who can use it.

Needs: Saved Messages on laptop

1. Open Hermes’ Telegram messaging settings.
   Look for Messaging or Telegram under Settings. The gateway is the connection to Telegram.

2. Copy your bot token from Saved Messages into the bot-token field.
   Use the token for this bot. Keep it out of chats and screenshots.
3. Put your user ID digits into Allowed user IDs.
   This is your personal Id number from Stage 4, not the bot’s username.
4. Save the Telegram settings.
   Use Save if shown. A Restart now banner may appear after credentials change.

5. Click Restart now when Hermes offers it.
   This restarts the gateway, not your laptop. If no gateway runs, use the recovery in Stage 9.

## 8. Get your first reply

Use your bot’s private chat on your phone.

Needs: Your bot username

1. Open the bot username saved in Saved Messages.
   Check the exact @username. Tap START if shown.
2. Tap START in your own bot chat.
   Your bot cannot message you before you start the chat.
3. Send /new.
   Wait for New session started. Read approval actions before choosing Always tonight.

4. Send /sethome.
   This sets this chat as your home for scheduled messages. It does not guarantee every reply.

5. Send the message hi.
   Wait up to two minutes. Your bot should answer. Type for now; voice comes later.

6. On Windows, send this house rule to your bot. [OS: windows]
   Wait for it to confirm. You will handle restarts yourself.

7. Wait up to a minute for the first reply.
   Typing or thinking messages mean your agent is working. Still silent? Open Help.
   Read the action first. Tonight, choose Always for actions you understand.
   Allow Once: This action only
   Session: Matching commands in this conversation
   Always: Always means your agent won’t ask again for this kind of action.
   Deny: Does not run the action
   Money, deleting or messaging other people? Choose Deny and ask in the workshop.

## 9. Keep it replying tonight

The laptop must stay awake, online and plugged in.

Needs: Charger; Wi-Fi; Phone

1. Keep the lid open and the charger connected.
   Keep Wi-Fi on. Opening Telegram Web cannot wake a sleeping laptop.
2. On Mac, open System Settings → Battery → Options. [OS: mac-arm]
   Turn on Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off.
3. On Mac, open System Settings → Lock Screen. [OS: mac-arm]
   Set Turn display off on power adapter when inactive to one minute for this test.
4. On Windows, open Settings → System → Power & battery. [OS: windows]
   Open Screen, sleep & hibernate timeouts. Older versions call it Screen and sleep.
5. For plugged in, set Make my device sleep after to Never. [OS: windows]
   Set Turn my screen off after to one minute for this test. Leave battery settings as they are.
6. Leave the laptop untouched until the display turns off.
   Do not select Sleep or close the lid. Keep Hermes and its gateway running.
7. Wait two minutes after the display turns off.
   Use your phone now. Leave the laptop untouched.
8. Send hi from your phone.
   A reply proves the agent stayed awake. If silent, tap My bot stopped replying below.

## 10. You’re ready for the workshop

You have your own bot and a laptop that keeps it running.

1. Take a screenshot of your bot’s reply.
   Bring it to the workshop. Cover any tokens and personal details.
2. Keep tonight’s model and settings unchanged.
   Do not install random skills before class. Your trainer will guide the next setup.
3. When your trainer tells you, open the Telegram group guide.
   You will put your existing bot into a group. Helper bots come during the workshop.
   Open: /create-telegram-group?start=1

# Put your bot in a Telegram group

Four phases, then a final check. Your bot must already reply privately.

## 1. Create your group

Create one private group with your existing bot.

## 2. Turn on Topics and add Ideas

Topics are smaller chats inside your group. Create one called Ideas.
